Do aliens really exist?
Have you ever felt like someone is watching over you? I don’t mean it in the philosophical sense, a being of higher power, like God. I mean more like a scrutinizing gaze. Like aliens.
The idea of aliens still remain a pretty obnoxious subject even in this century. In this vast and unfathomable galaxy of stars and planets, it is hard to settle for the fact that we are all alone. If these so called aliens do have an existence. Why haven't they made and effort to contact us?
Enrico Fermi, a Physicist from the 20th century, brought up the question. Where are these aliens? Are we really alone in this realm that’s filled with uncountable number of stars? There are discoveries of more than 100 planets, that are just like us. How many more could there be in our unawareness. Shouldn’t atleast another planet have some form of life? Are we really alone?
Later this question was developed into the Fermi paradox, and in 1973 an astronaut named John A. Ball contributed to this idea that the existence of alien life form is not a myth and that these aliens refrain from engaging with us. In simple, this theory revolves around the idea that our planet is a zoo. In the zoo, the animals are only for viewing purposes. There is no touching or contact involved. In the zoo, animals are subjected to studies. Like so, he suggested that aliens must also be studying humans from far away.
Perhaps they are civilized and have advanced technology. They may think that our civilization might get destroyed if we are connected with them. Maybe we’ll never find out. Maybe the reason for the expeditious development of the Egyptian or Sri Lankan civilization and the equally sudden destruction of these civilization could be associated to aliens. Could that mean we are a failed experiment? Tossed aside for isolation because we didn’t comply to their anticipations?
Or there is a chance that the truth could be totally contradictory to this theory. Maybe they aren’t even as developed as we are and don’t have the necessary technology to explore beyond their world. Or some might bare the idea that aliens have gone extinct.
Anyhow, whatever assumption or belief people hold on this subject. It is hard to believe that we are all alone in this infinite universe.
