Thoughts on Generation X, Y and Z

Image
Human beings have experienced a rapid change in their lifestyle after the ‘industrial revolution’. The industrial revolution paved changes to cultures, customs and traditions in societies all over existence. These changes pertained blocks of time periods through the existence of humankind which indulged the labeling and categorization of generations. In the present day you can find different names for the generations who lived in the world in those time periods. Some of them include; The Depression Era, World War II, Post-War Cohort, Boomers I or The Baby Boomers, Boomers II or Generation Jones, Generation X, Generation Y, Generation Z. People who belong to ‘Generation X’ are born from 1966 to 1976. In 2018 they are between the ages of 52 to 42. People born between 1977 and 1994 are considered ‘Generation Y’. This generation is also called “Echo Boomers” and “Millenniums”, they range between ages 41 to 24 in the present day. ‘Generation Z’ occupies birth years between 1995 and 2...

The value of a tissue paper

Image
The value of a tissue paper Every idea should have a beginning somewhere. But that somewhere does not always have to be an expensive, high tech computer screen in an equally expensive, large meeting room. Would it be hard to believe if I said that some of the world’s most famous and admired creations started from a scribble on a piece of little tissue paper? As reported by The Telegraph, JK Rowling's idea for the widely adored novel series; Harry Potter, came to her while in a train station waiting for her train to London. In addition to this, Pixar's 1998 Biggest Movie: "A Bug's Life", 2001 "Monsters Inc.", 2003 "Finding Nemo" and 2008 "WALL-E", all started from the humble beginnings of a piece of tissue paper that was available during a lunch break. The Space Needle, an iconic landmark of Seattle, Washington DC, was primarily sketched on the remnants of a tissue paper while creator Edward E. Carlson was in the mid...

Do not fall

Image
What does it mean not to fall? When thinking about it. You might imagine many aspects to the meaning of falling. Falling off something, falling while you’re walking, slipping and falling. But I’m not talking about any of these types of falling. So what is this ‘fall’? That has become such an issue. The fall I am referring to is the mental decline someone experiences due to difficulties and complications that they might have to face in life. The loss in self confidence and self esteem. So how do we achieve this self confidence and refrain from losing it? When we fail at something we worked hard for. It keeps us sleepless at night. We don’t have the appetite to eat. We can’t think about anything else other than the failure that has happened to us. There’s nothing wrong with dwelling your thoughts on your failures, as long as you do it the right way. Understanding your weaknesses and gaining from a failed experience to improve yourself. “Never a failure always a lesson” A famous ...

Do aliens really exist?

Image
Have you ever felt like someone is watching over you? I don’t mean it in the philosophical sense, a being of higher power, like God. I mean more like a scrutinizing gaze. Like aliens. The idea of aliens still remain a pretty obnoxious subject even in this century. In this vast and unfathomable galaxy of stars and planets, it is hard to settle for the fact that we are all alone. If these so called aliens do have an existence. Why haven't they made and effort to contact us? Enrico Fermi, a Physicist from the 20th century, brought up the question. Where are these aliens? Are we really alone in this realm that’s filled with uncountable number of stars? There are discoveries of more than 100 planets, that are just like us. How many more could there be in our unawareness. Shouldn’t atleast another planet have some form of life? Are we really alone? Later this question was developed into the Fermi paradox, and in 1973 an astronaut named John A. Ball contributed to this idea t...

IDEA

Image
There’s a famous saying by  Eleanor Roosevelt that goes like this; “Great minds discuss ideas Average minds discuss events Small minds discuss people “ It’s been said that the humankind was made in the image of God. We have the most advanced mind and most advanced capacity to think than all the animals in the animal kingdom. Everybody has a mind of their own. So what do we do with our mind? We have the indefinite capacity to think. We generate ideas and concepts from this process of thinking. A simple idea has the capacity to even change the whole world. Great developments of mankind were all initiated by this phenomenon known as an idea. Our process of thought, not only functions when we are conscious or awake but also when we are sleeping, we think in the form of dreams. Our hopes and aspirations. Our thoughts and reflections. Some of these things we keep locked away safely in our unconscious mind. And sometimes these thoughts and hopes come back to us, in our dreams...

Unsolved mystery at Dyatlov Pass

Image
On the first night of February 1959, 9 ski hikers mysteriously died in the mountains of Russia. As the group never returned, the group set up a camp on the slope, enjoyed dinner, and sleep was preparing for something but went devastatingly wrong. On February 26, the search team found a hiker's abandonment tent which was torn from inside. Footprints left by the group surrounding the area, some wearing socks, some followed by the edge of the nearby wood, some were wearing a single shoe, some barefoot. When the first two bodies were found, there were no shoes, only the underwear was wearing. As the scene produces a mark of death in hypothermia, but the medical examiner evidence makes no sense at all. Somebody had evidence of dull power trauma consistent with brutal raids. Others suffered three burns. One was vomiting and tongue was missing, and it turned out that a part of the clothing was a radioactive. The emerging theory includes the Russian version...

Different Love Styles

Image
If you love someone, set them free. If they come back they’re yours; If they don’t they never were. However, in today’s world, this quote finds its own MODERN VERSIONS depending on the kind of people you are: Pessimist: If you love someone, Set her free … If she ever comes back, she’s yours, If she doesn’t, as expected, she never was Optimist: If you love someone, Set her free … Don’t worry, she will come back . Suspicious: If you love someone, Set her free … If she ever comes back, ask her why. Impatient: If you love someone, Set her free … If she doesn’t come back within some time forget her. Patient: If you love someone, set her free .. If she doesn’t come back, continue to wait until she comes back … Playful If you love someone, Set her free … If she comes back, and if you love her still, set her free again, repeat … C++ Programmer: if(you-love(m_she)) m_she.free() if(m_she == NULL) m_she = new C...

The thing that changed human history Part 2

Image
So how is entertainment relevant to religion? Let me explain with a little example. We all are aware of Jesus Christ, as catholics we call him the son of God. According to the Holy Bible, Jesus used Parables for his teachings.Parables are seemingly simple and memorable stories. And what are stories? An account of imaginary or real people and events told for entertainment. Ladies and Gentlemen. There we are. Stories. Jesus Christ himself used entertainment to enumerate religion. This could depict that entertainment is the most simple and the most influential human need that can persuade humankind. By understanding the power that entertainment holds, Jesus Christ conveyed his teachings to humankind. Not just in the Catholic religion, other religions like Buddhism and the Islamic religion also uses forms of entertainment like music and art in teaching and educating.   Another societal substantiality that can be implied since the beginning of time, that has the...

The thing that changed human history Part 1

Image
Once upon time in a land far far away there lived a boy. Well you may think I'm going to tell u a fairytale and it may sound  like a fairytale but I'm gonna tell you a story about myself. Ever since I  was a  5th grade student, I have learnt that there are three basic human needs for survival; food, place to live and clothes. We were taught that the notion of satisfying these needs will eventually lead a good and satisfying lifestyle for a human being. But there is another necessity, another minor fundamental that composites a major role that everybody forgot to mention. Another human need that changed the human destiny. Entertainment. Even before civilization, from the times of the stone age, entertainment has existed as a basic human need. Historians call it Prehistoric art , this includes concepts from cave paintings , prehistoric music to prehistoric dancing. Believe me ladies and gentlemen these things existed 40,000 years ago, even before ...

100 Rupee Haircut Part 2

Image
I cross the street and the smell of something frying in the restaurant across the street makes my stomach grumble. I haven’t eaten since yesterday morning, I remember. I walk up to the restaurant and see a kid about the same age as me sit next to his mother, his nose in a smart phone munching on his food. His mother looks my way and glances at the leftover food on their plates. She calls for the waiter and points to me. The waiter picks up their plates and goes to the back. A few minutes later he comes and hands over a plastic bag with a malu pang and two rolls.Today seemed like good day. “Take this and get out of here kollo”. I take the food and leave gobbling down the food. The sun was starting to set so I headed over to the saloon to get my lice filled hair cut. Tonight I can sleep in peace I think as I finish up to the lasts of the rolls. I run to the first saloon I see and go and sit in the queue. “What are you doing here! Get out! Get out!” The o...
